FOUNDER - Dr. Al Mott held his "Ms Senior Citizen" pageant for senior women in 1972, in an era when few seniors had neither financial security or robust health. As a former 20th Century Fox recording artist turned minister, his goal was to use his "show business" background to raise public awareness of the seniors' plight. In only a few short years, the pageant went nationwide and in 1981, he changed the title to "MS Senior Amerca" and founded Senior America, Inc. National pageants have been held annually since 1981. Today, the Ms Senior America Pageant system not only enriches the lives of seniors, but also taps their energy to enrich the lives of others. Former contestants entertain anywhere they can to make the day brighter, passing on their philosophies of life to the younger generation as they go. Senior America encourages and provides a framework for all of these activities while honoring senior women for their services.
